HIGH FIVE CHOIR REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

The Wilmette High Five Junior Choir is for students in grades 5-8. We aim to share the love of music regardless of abilities, share our voices through music, and have a lot of fun! This club was modeled after New Trier High School’s High-5 Choir. We strive to provide a safe, affirming learning environment in which students of all abilities come together to create and experience music, build friendships, and raise awareness against stereotypes of differently-abled people. Please note that the High Five Junior Choir is different from the school’s grade level choirs.

The Wilmette High Five Junior Choir is offered Thursdays 3:45-4:45pm at Highcrest Middle School in the Music Room. 13 sessions (cost $125) begin 10/9/25 and end with a Winter Concert 1/29/26 4:15-4:45pm at the HMS Auditorium. Questions? Please email instructor Mrs. Martin, HMS Music Director, at martinj@wilmette39.org. Sign up HERE!

HAVE YOU PURCHASED A PTO MEMBERSHIP YET?

It is important to purchase a PTO Membership because the $25 fee helps plan programs that benefit all students throughout the school year. Separate from the iGNITE Enrichment fund, the PTO funds stipends for teachers who coordinate the Latin Club, Student Council, Yearbook, funds beautification efforts like the front door planters, and staff appreciation throughout the year. The PTO also sponsors the 8th Grade Graduation party each year (free for all 8th graders!) and hosts tables at beginning of the year orientations and curriculum nights. In return, you get access to the online school directory, a lifeline for parents to connect with other parents. We use a platform called Membership Toolkit to make it easy for our parents to make and track purchases (i.e., Yearbook) and for you to get important information about school activities. Please join!

Even if you have a student at another D39 school, in order to access the WJHS Directory you will need to purchase a WJHS PTO membership. This can be done HERE, on the wjhspto.com website. Any questions or have trouble logging in? Email directory@wjhspto.com. YOU MUST UPDATE YOUR HOUSEHOLD CONTACT INFORMATION FROM A HOME COMPUTER TO BEGIN, NOT A PHONE.

If you have questions or trouble logging in, please email directory@wjhspto.com

 IGNITE FUND FOR ENRICHMENT

The PTO's iGNITE Fund for Enrichment pays for field trips, author visits, traveling exhibits or experiments, cultural experiences and educational school assemblies. The suggested amount is $85 per WJHS student but ANY amount you can contribute is appreciated. The iGNITE fund covers the cost of enrichment for ALL students. At the top of the wjhspto.com website there is a button called “PTO STORE” where you can make your contribution. Thank you!

LUNCH VOLUNTEERING

You don’t know what you’re missing if you haven’t volunteered to serve lunch yet! At WJHS, volunteers are HIGHLY VALUED and APPRECIATED! It is one hour of your time, from 11:30-12:30pm (we need to update the SignUp Genius) on any day of the week. If your student is worried about running into you at school, please be assured that you may not even see them! If you want to sneak a peek at your student in their natural environment, then this is a perfect opportunity for you! Either way, our friendly staff members Angie and Faye will put you to work and you will feel useful.

Sign up HERE and thank you!

 OPEN PTO POSITIONS

Thank you for your responses from last week! We are still going through them. We want to meet more parents and have representation from ALL D39 elementary schools on our board!  Please consider representing your homeschool and getting to know WJHS better by volunteering your time and talents on the WJHS PTO.

Please email president@wjhspto.com for more information on any of the below positions:

1. PTO President-Elect: very light commitment this year, only attend one meeting (on the first Wednesday of each month 9-10am). Becomes the President next year. Less commitment than you think. Please email president@wjhspto.com to hear about it.
2. VP Student Programs: Light commitment. Submits the stipend request online for the teacher coordinators for Student Council, Latin Club and Yearbook. Reports on the activities of the 8th Grade Graduation Party committee and the Yearbook and EduKits coordinators (already in place) at the monthly exec board meeting (on the first Wednesday of each month 9-10am).
3. VP Legislation: Light commitment. Reports on anything happening with Civics & Safety (coordinator already in place) at monthly exec boards meetings (on the first Wednesday of each month 9-10am). This is an off-year, so no revisions to PTO Bylaws needed.

CURRICULUM NIGHT - PTO TABLE

The PTO will have a table in the front lobby during Curriculum Night: 9/18 (7th grade) and 9/25 (8th grade). Stop by and check out WJHS SpiritWear, meet PTO members and see how you can get involved.

JOIN THE FACEBOOK PAGE FOR WJHS PARENTS

There is an online community for you to ask questions and get information about WJHS - it’s the WJHS PARENTS Facebook page! Many announcements are shared on the page although it is not run by the WJHS PTO. It’s worthwhile to be able to ask questions from fellow parents and see veteran parents’ comments. You will need to answer a few questions to make sure you have a student at WJHS, as it is for parents of CURRENT students only.

WJHS SPIRITWEAR

Wilmette Junior High School Wolves spirit wear is offered through our partner and fellow Wilmette moms’ business HumanKind. Check out all the great options HERE that can be personalized!
