If you enjoyed the AMC 8 Competition or weren’t able to participate but wished you could, we have great news! The MATHCOUNTS Competition is a national competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests. The program is supported by the National Society of Professional Engineers at the state and local levels. 7th and 8th graders will meet on Mondays, starting Monday, January 9 and practice for the school contest to be held in February. The top 10 scorers from WJHS will then go on to the regional competition, also held in February, and then possibly the state competition in March and the national competition held in May in Florida. Maximum 20 students.

Chess club welcomes all skill levels from beginners to experienced players. Come to improve your game and learn some of the finer tactics and strategies of the game. The club may participate in future tournaments depending on funding. Whether you’re a competitive player or looking for a casual game, the WJHS chess club is the place to be if you’re looking for a fun time!

Magic the Gathering is the original trading card game that gave rise to Pokémon and Yugi-oh. It requires strategy, quick thinking and creativity to defeat opponents because no two games of Magic are the same! Activities will include a deck building workshop, instruction at all levels of play (beginner-expert), multiplayer formats and various tournaments. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned veteran of the game, there are always strategies to learn and ways to improve.

Attention Latin Discipuli! Tired of spending your Thursday afternoons not enjoying the company of Magistra and enjoying Roman culture? Well come to Latin Club. We will be cleaning two-thousand year old coins, breaking apart Caesar pinatas on the Ides, watching Gladiator whilst enjoying Roman cereal, and having snacks on a very regular basis.
